Prestigious city of India-Pune

If you are planning to visit India, Pune is going to be a one of the best option for you. The city shows all shades of Indian lifestyle. It is the eighth largest metropolis in India and second largest city in the Maharashtra after Mumbai. Along with the many ancient historical places .The city has got many educational institutions, developing IT industries and full blessing of nature.
History
The city was founded by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was the founder of Maratha empire and got its name from SANSKRIT word Punyanagri. Around 937 AD, During his supremacy, the city witnessed growth and development in every aspect which became political centre of the peshwa  empire in 1730. Later on, until India got independence on 15th of August 1947, the place served as monsoon capital and cantonment town to the British.

The city lies at the convergence of two rivers Mula and Mutha. Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, is a geographically significant place. Located above 560 meters from sea level on the leeward side of Western Ghats of India, Pune enjoys a moderate and pleasant climate throughout the year. Seasonal variations in temperature are not so extreme in Pune. The weather in Pune is wholesome with pleasant summer and cool winter. The summer is hot with high humidity level. So, the climate in which Pune is at its best is from November to February.
Culture
Pune is truly a melting pot of varied cultures. It is also the cultural capital of the state and the national centre of Marathi speaking people in India but many people understand Hindi and English. As Pune, is considered as cultural capital it encompasses both the traditional Maharashtrian lifestyle that is prevalent in the heart of city as well as a modern, progressive outlook resulting from its being a hub for education and liberal thought. People from multiple religions and speaking different regional languages reside here.

It also hosts various cultural events throughout the year. Due to a large student population, Pune also hosts many youth festivals but most popular festival in Pune is Ganesh  festival  initiated by the Lokmanya Tilak which is the collective communal celebration of the festival of Lord Ganesh, during the month of August, or, September, each year. The best thing about this festival is that many people around all over the world visits Pune only to enjoy this Ganesh festival and celebrate it whole night.
What to visit in Pune?
The city’s cultural activities and places of interests for art lovers have made earned it a distinct popularity and image among people. The spectacular historical monuments from the Maratha period and many places of tourist interest add richness to this city of diversity.
Aga Khan Palace: It is famed for its connection with the Indian Independence movement. British held many important freedom fighters under arrest in this Palace.

Pataleshwar caves : The temple is made out of a single hard stone and the main deity is Pataleshwar.

It was the palace of the great rulers Peshwa  Dynasty in Pune.
Mulashi Dam : The Dam is a perfect spot for picnics, with its scenic surroundings, unexploited Sahyadri hills, lush green forests & some ancient forts like Koraigadh and Dhangad in the vicinity.
Along with all of the above spots, it has got many famous spots, like, Parvati, Saras bagh,  Vishram Bagh wada, Tulshi Bagh,  Sinhgad, Bund Garden, Shinde’s Chhatri.
How to get in the city?
 As Pune is one of largest city in the Maharashtra there are many ways to get in the city.
By Plane
Pune currently does not have a civil airport to its name. All commercial air carriers operate from the military airport located at Lohegaon.
By Train:  
PUNE IS WELL CONNECTED TO OTHER INDIAN CITIES BY RAIL. PUNE CITY STATION IS AN AVERAGE RAILWAY STATION.
By road
Pune served three national highways NH 4, between Mumbai in the west and Chennai in the south passes through Pune. NH 9 connects Pune in Maharashtra to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. NH 50 connects Pune to Nasik.
